If you’ve ever wondered why you should use videos for your learning, we made this video for you! In this quick clip I talk about three reasons to use videos as a component of your blended learning strategy.
Videos are quick, they are engaging, and they are cost effective.
A quick recap of the video:
-
1. Quick
Videos allow the demonstration of complex or simple ideas faster than other mediums. Case in point, explaining how to tie your shoes over the phone or with written instructions would be laborious! If you subscribe to the 70/20/10 model (Video) (Infographic) like we do, you know that the goal is to decrease the amount of formal learning. Videos allow for quick, pointed learning at the time of need, and make sure to keep them short. Studies show that a third of people who watched videos online last year didn’t stay till the end, which is why our video is only two minutes long (Even with the awkward pause for fun).

2. Engaging
Videos are more engaging, which is why we made a video. Even though you happen to be reading this, most people prefer video for the majority of their internet consumption. In 2015, 57% of online traffic was made up of video, and that’s only expected to grow as Facebook videos, Twitter videos, and Youtube continue to grow at exponential rates. -
3. Cost Effective
Videos are published in a universal file format, most commonly mp4, which means you don’t have to worry about whether your learners use an android phone, iPhone, or Blackberry (Are those still a thing?). This allows you to publish and distribute your learning across virtually any device or platform without having to do conversions.
Furthermore, by delivering courses that can be consumed on any device, you allow your learners to be able to learn when and where they want. With that possible you then could look at revamping your on-demand learning, microlearning, blended learning, the timing of your training, and other learning strategies.
