Business Challenges
Since 1990, operator training materials have been repurposed in classroom training for one-week sessions at the client site. Schedules for employee training were constrained for those who worked on crews in rotational shifts. As a result, classroom instruction was quickly proving to be ineffective. Other challenges identified included:
- Training in a classroom required employees to take a week off from work, which meant lost productivity. The client had been experiencing significant cost impacts due to the absence of thousands of workers.
- The adjunct staff had no access to plant operations, and training in a classroom was unable to simulate real-world plant operations.
- Organizing classroom deliveries for such a large population with varied schedules was difficult and expensive because this training was intended for 13 fleet operations.
